CALLING THEATRE & PERFORMANCE MAKERS
24 – 31 October 2015
Are you hatching a project? Do you need space to work on a new idea?
This autumn Invererne is once again opening its doors to diverse artists – from playwrights to choreographers, devisers to dramaturges – offering them space to learn, create and be inspired.
Invererne is a home in Northern Scotland where theatre and performance artists take part in residential creative retreats, living together, close to nature.
Applications are invited for projects in their early stages by individual artists and creative collaborations of up to three people. Please make sure you read about our space specifications in the ‘where’ section before applying.
To find out if it’s something for you have a look round this website and see what a retreat looks like here.
We are excited to announce a creative partnership with MAYK: Theatre Producing (mayk.org.uk) the theatre producers behind Bristol’s Mayfest, who are kindly supporting a place on the retreat. This artist will receive a free place, and will be invited to take part in an on-going creative dialogue with MAYK following the retreat. This offer is open to a solo artist or can be a joint application from a pair of artists, if successful they would receive one free place and have one guaranteed place at the standard rate. Let us know when applying if you want to be considered for this opportunity.
Dates & Fees
The retreat will run from Saturday 24th – Saturday 31st of October, 2015
Fee per participant: £310 (this can be paid in up to 3 instalments over 3 months if needed)
This covers all costs for the week including pick up & drop off from Edinburgh (where the retreat starts), food, accommodation, workspace, and transport during the week for trips to the sea and forests.
We are keen for Invererne to be as inclusive as possible, however, unfortunately we cannot accommodate wheelchair users as the building does not yet have step-free access and there will be several outdoor walking excursions over the week. If you are interested in taking part and have a disability which you think may effect your time at Invererne do get in touch.
Applications are open till 5pm on Monday 17 August, 2015
To receive a copy of the application form or for any queries please email Cara & Hugh at firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicant places will be announced in early September.
Our selection criteria are as follows:
- A project in its early stages of development, or an idea for a project which has not yet begun
- Artists who are exploring/reflecting/provoking the world we live in now
- An experience of, or enthusiasm for, a collaborative creative environment
- A desire to be close to (or work with) the natural environment
- A strong proposal for how the retreat will benefit their project and creative practice
Alongside ourselves we have invited May Abdalla, an independent third party, to oversee this process.
* A final note, if you’re thinking of flying to Edinburgh from within the UK in order to take part please contact us before applying and see our website’s Ethics & Environment page.
